ON A BUDGET
A shuttle-served canyon with one expensive gateway town and a lot of cheap dirt just outside it.
Springdale and the campgrounds
Watchman and South campgrounds sit inside the gate; Springdale's motels are pricey, so most budget travellers camp or drive out to BLM ground near Virgin.
What a day costs
Roughly $55–100 a day: campsite $20–30 or a shared cabin bed more, groceries from the Springdale market $15–25, and the entrance fee spread across a week.
Free shuttles, paid entry
The Zion Canyon shuttle is free and mandatory from roughly March to late November — the scenic drive shuts to cars. Springdale's town shuttle links the motels to the pedestrian gate.
Entrance fee maths
Entry runs about $35 a vehicle for seven days, or $20 on foot. The America the Beautiful annual pass, around $80, pays for itself over three parks.
Where travellers meet
The Zion Canyon Brew Pub patio by the pedestrian bridge collects everyone off the last shuttle — Narrows plans get made and abandoned there.
